If you are having problems with your induction hob then you will be pleased to know that in most cases it can be repaired. Depending on the nature of the problem it may be something that you are able to do yourself. However, for most major problems it is probably a good idea to hire a professional electrician that has experience of working with induction hobs. Some of the most common problems that occur with induction hobs are described in more detail below.
The Hobs Turn On But Do Not Heat Up
Induction hobs will only work with induction pans that have iron at the bottom of them. If these types of pans are not used then the hob will not heat up as this is a safety feature that they have. You can quickly check if a pan is suitable for use on an induction hob by seeing if a magnet will stick to the bottom. If it does then you are using the right type of pan and so there may be some other problem. There could be many different reasons why the hob is not heating up and a professional will be able to investigate what these reasons could be. They will also be able to make the necessary repairs and get the hob back up and running again.
Power Is Not Getting To The Hob
If you are not getting any power then this could suggest an issue with the power board. You could check whether the fuse has blown and resetting this is a job that you should be able to do yourself. If the fuse needs to be changed then this may also be something that you feel confident with doing yourself. If there is still no power then the problem may be with the power board itself. This is a problem that should be looked out by a professional electrician that has experience in this area.
The Hob Is Making A Whirring Sound
It is common for an induction hob to make a bit of noise when it is working so this is not necessarily anything to worry about. There is an internal fan which you may be able to hear working. However, if the noise seems excessively loud and there are other issues that you have noticed then there may be a problem with the hob. This is a situation where the best course of action is probably to consult a professional. They will be able to diagnose what the problem is and take any appropriate action.
If you are unsure about any aspect of induction repair then you should call on a professional. You can damage your hob or cause injury to yourself if you are not completely sure what you are doing and so it is best not to risk it. Induction hobs are a popular choice because they cook food quickly and easily. If you are considering buying an induction hob then there is no need to let any worries about getting it repaired put you off.

Hi I have a De Deitrich hob induction which has stopped working on the right hand side , the Left side is still OK but i cannot use half the controlls either so no turbo boost, it is out of warranty and I am having trouble finding someone to fix it , I contacted De Detrich and they gave me the link to repaircare, but some of the reviews on there are really terrible, I had an awful experience with a plumber on one of those kinds of sites last year, how can I find a decent repair guy?
