Best Vape Mod UK Reviews – Top 7 Picks

1. Smok Alien 220W (Editor’s Choice)

Smok Alien 220WLet’s start with a piece of tech that offers a truly out-of-this-world appeal. The Smok Alien 220W isn’t just a great piece of kit for vaping veterans. It’s also one of the top vape mods on the market for people who want to quit cigarettes full-stop. With a unique selection of buttons and intelligent modes to choose from, the Smok Alien makes sure that you have everything you need to know about how you smoke so that you can cut back on your nicotine habit in a controlled way.

Features

While the Smok Alien is designed to suit people who love chasing clouds or creating delicious flavours, its most impressive feature has to be the way that it presents vaping data for its users. If you’re a true vaping purist, then you’ll love being able to see and adjust all of the information that can affect your cloud results.

Even if you’ve been searching for the best vape starter kit in the UK, this could be the kind of device you need. It’s going to take some getting used to, but the buttons and screen will give you more control over your habit than you can get anywhere else. Of course, the downside is that you’ll probably feel seriously intimidated by your device for a little while.

The amount of data you get is great but it’s also overwhelming when you’re looking for something to replace a standard stick of nicotine. At the same time, it’s not exactly the most impressive-looking piece of device we’ve ever seen – but don’t let that fool you. This mod is a diamond in the rough.

Pros:
  • Highly informative OLED display
  • Powerful performance
  • Can be customised however you like for the ideal vape
  • Makes it easier to quit smoking
  • Different ohm resistance available
Cons:
  • Quite intimidating for a novice
  • Requires two batteries that aren’t always included as standard
  • Not as attractive as some mods

2. Pax 3 (Best for Natural Herbs)

Pax 3If you still think that vaporisers are just for e-liquids, then boy have we got news for you. The PAX series of vape pens have been making waves for quite some time now as one of the leading brands for heat technology and extended battery life. The Pax 3 mod is the ultimate option for people who want to be able to switch between liquid and dry herb vaping whenever they like.

Features

If you’re looking for the best vaping kit in the UK, but you haven’t committed to how you’re going to vape yet, then this could be the ideal option for you. It allows you to decide exactly how you want to manage your smoking habits on a day-to-day basis. The only real problem is the design.

If you don’t care much about how your vape system looks, then you might not mind that you’re getting nothing more than a boring black box from Pax. It is also fair to say that most avid e-cigarette enthusiasts will quickly get tired of how difficult it is to get a good grip on the device. Additionally, this certainly isn’t the most “cost-effective” vaporiser out there. Saying that it still has a lot to offer including more than 60 temperature settings and a mobile app that you can use to adjust and control your flavour profiles. Lastly, we also like its 22-second heat-up feature.

Pros:
  • Quick heat-up
  • Bluetooth and smartphone enabled
  • 60+ temperature settings
  • 10-year warranty
  • Herb or liquid options
Cons:
  • Slippery and difficult to hold
  • Seems to get messy for no reason
  • Difficult to clean (for herbs and liquid)

3. Cool Fire IV (Best Box Mod)

Cool Fire IVIf you’ve been looking for the best box mod in the UK, then there’s a good chance you’ve heard of the Innokin brand before. That’s the company responsible for the Cool Fire vape mod – one of the hottest devices in the market for box modifications. The latest box mod version of the Cool Fire is the IV option, or Cool Fire 4 as it’s known to some.

Features

As is the case with many of the box mods on the market, the Cool Fire IV is excellent at providing serious power for your vape. You can accomplish a max output of up to 14.5 amps with ease. What’s more, the 2000mAh battery means you won’t have to endlessly keep charging up your device. The IV fits perfectly well with different ohm tanks Innokin has to offer. Additionally, unlike some other mods out there, it is surprisingly small and lightweight – it’ll fit easily into your pocket when you’re on the move.

One of the major issues with this Innokin mod is the lack of temperature control. You don’t have nearly as many options as you do with some of the other, clunkier devices on the market. Additionally, while the battery life is great, it is limited by its size, since you are getting a compact box mod. You won’t have to charge as often, but you can’t expect your e-cig to last for days.

Pros:
  • Great build quality and appearance
  • Fantastic tank kit
  • Powerful output (14.5 amps)
  • Intelligent vape timer and puff counter
Cons:
  • Very little temperature control
  • Not as much battery life as bigger mods
  • You might not appreciate the “compact” look

4. Proton 235W (Best New Vape Mod)

Proton 235WThe second item from Innokin on our list today impressed us as one of the best new vape mods on the market. As we mentioned at the beginning of this article, the perception of the vape mods in the UK is likely to change as new technology enters the marketplace. The Innokin Proton 235W might be a novel piece of tech for now, but it has the potential to be a real game-changer and a classic in the making.

Features

Showcasing a Scion II tank with 0.36 ohm coil and an upgraded chipset, The Proton provides an experience that’s very similar to the Smok Alien, complete with plenty of information about your vaping habits. The main difference is that you get a slimmer look and design overall. Another thing that makes the Proton special is how easy it is to navigate the touch-screen interface. It’s just like using your smartphone, except you get a nicotine fix out of it too.

If you’re looking for a high-powered piece of tech to upgrade your vaping habits, then it’s hard to get better than the Innokin Proton – the pioneering device from Innokin. Some users say it is strangely unbalanced so you might think that the design looks a bit weird overall. Although, if you’re the type of person who always looks for something to do with their hands, you’ll particularly enjoy playing with the little joystick control in the centre of the screen. However, this menu button may get sticky over time with regular use. What’s more, if you keep your e-cig in your pocket, then the joystick will attract lint and may become difficult to use.

Pros:
  • Great build quality
  • Fantastic fire time
  • Innovative menu with lots of customisation options
  • Lightweight and long-lasting
Cons:
  • The strange design isn’t appealing to everyone
  • Its coils consume a lot of juice fast
  • The joystick can be temperamental – particularly with regular use

5. Series-B DNA 75W Sandstorm Kit (Best for Beginners)

Series B DNA 75W SandstormSo far, we’ve looked a lot of the best sub OHM mod options on the market for people who know their way around a vaporiser (for the most part). But, what about if you’re looking for a kit that’s going to give you good value as a beginner? If you’re eyeing for something simple to launch your modification knowledge, you’re sure to appreciate the simplicity of the JacVapour Series-B DNA mod.

Features

This is one of the most popular electronic cigarette kits on the market today, in part because of how easy it is to use. The system isn’t going to transform your vape into an all-singing and all-dancing device, but it will help you to get the most out of your kit with specialisations like temperature control and pass-through charging.

As soon as you open the box, you’ll notice just how simple it is to set your mod up. You’re also bound to appreciate the weight of your device – as you’re less likely to feel like it’s going to slip out of your hand. Additionally, there is the possibility that you can do a lot of tinkering with the device as you start to learn more about how vape mods work.

The main thing to remember here is that you are dealing with a starter kit – so the options are somewhat limited. What’s more, some of the reviews we read suggested that the kit can be a little temperamental. Some users say that it shuts down at random times and things like that. So be careful with your device.

Pros:
  • Easy to use
  • Sturdy and robust design
  • Easy to grip and lightweight
  • Great for beginners
  • Pass-through charging available
Cons:
  • Boring design with no colour options (just silver)
  • Limited options since it is a starter kit
  • Some problems with longevity

6. Kangertech Subox Mini Kit (Best Under £50)

Kangertech Subox MiniNow we come to one of the best budget vapes in the UK. If you’re not sure that you’re going to become a modding extremist anytime soon, or you’re uncertain of what kind of features you really want to work on to improve your habits, then it’s better to start with something slightly less expensive. The Kangertech Subox Mini Kit is a great value vape that delivers big results on a small budget.

Features

Often suggested as a starter device for vaping newbies on a budget, this kit comes with everything you need to make the switch. Whit this affordable kit, you don’t have to begin your vaping experience with a cheap, sub-standard, pen-style, e-cigarette. This device is easy to carry around in your pocket thanks to its lightweight and compact design, and it has enough battery life to last for the entire day too. You shouldn’t have too much trouble learning how to use the system either, as it comes with very few customisation options.

Crucially, while this might be one of the best value vape mod devices we’ve looked at, it’s not without some downsides. There’s a problem with “spit back” when you fire your coils at higher temperatures, which can burn the tip of your tongue. Additionally, the 50-watt limit means that you don’t have a lot of power to work with. However, it is an excellent device for beginners all the same.

Pros:
  • Easy to use and reliable
  • Great value and strong build
  • Variable wattage options
  • 2 ml tank
Cons:
  • Spit-back issues with high temperatures
  • 50-watt limit (low power)
  • Battery not included
  • Paint strips away from the device easily

7. Aspire Skystar No Nicotine Revvo Kit (Best for Clouds)

Aspire Skystar RevvoIf your idea of the best vape mod in the UK is a device that you can do some great cloud tricks with, then this could be the tech for you. The impressive Skystar Revvo Kit from Aspire brings you a host of amazing customisation options, including variable voltage, temperature control, and by-pass mode. You’ll get a handy customisable power setting mode built-in too.

Features

One of the first things you’re sure to notice about this mod is that it’s a very attractive piece of device. If aesthetics don’t mean much to you, then the appearance might not be a big selling factor but it’s certainly something that attracts attention. Unfortunately, some people aren’t fond of the way that the device feels in their hand. The format is very curvy and feminine in some ways, and there’s no grip to stop your hand from slipping.

Still, if you can get beyond the look and feel of the mod and instead focus on how it performs, you’ll see some great results. Not only can you turn the heat up to 210 degrees, but you can also take advantage of some fantastic cloud and flavour-boosting coils too. Prepare to fill your house with plumes of white whenever you feel the urge to show off.

Pros:
  • Great cloud creation with innovative coils
  • Amazing for flavour
  • Very reliable
  • High-power performance
  • 2 ml tank
Cons:
  • Feminine, curvy feeling doesn’t appeal to everyone
  • Very lightweight which may affect your grip
  • Airflow settings can be a bit turbulent

What Are Vape Mods?

advanced personal vaporiserVape mods appeared in the electronic cigarette market when customers began to discover that they could achieve a better experience by customising the heat, power and various other elements of their device. Today, the box mods on the market provide everyday users with a way to customise their device without voiding the warranty with dangerous tinkering.

Mods are available in a wide range of shapes and sizes, but how do you know which option is right for you? If you’re still dithering over the possibilities we covered above; the following insights might help you to make your next modding decision.

The Pros and Cons of Using Vape Mods

The first step in choosing a vape mod is deciding whether a mod is a good idea for you in the first place. Just like with any investment, there are pros and cons you need to consider.

The Positives

Many people swear by their modifications when it comes to getting the ultimate vaping experience and here are a number of reasons why.

1. Looks Good

From a purely aesthetic perspective, vape mods make your e-cigarette look much better than a standard device. What’s more, because the design is bulkier you have something more substantial to hold onto.

2. Greater Control

If you like the idea of vaping, but you want more control over the kind of experience you get, then mods could be ideal for you. Some features and settings to look for include adjustable airflow, puff time and the number of puffs to name a few. You can even change the tanks you use and adjust the temperature your coil heats up.

3. More Power

Mods provide a far greater power range than a standard e-cig so that you can produce more vapour. What’s more, because most options come with a larger battery pack, you’ll be able to use it for a longer period of time. There is no need to worry about running out of power too quickly.

The Negatives

man fixing a vaporiser with a lot of featuresOn the other hand, if massive amounts of power and advanced features aren’t a big deal to you, then modifying your e-cig might not be the right option. There are a number of reasons why you might not want to take this route.

1. Difficult To Get Used To

Mods can be a bit complicated depending on the number of extra features available from your vape mod. It may take quite some time before you learn how to get the most out of your system.

2. Bulky And Heavy

If you want something smaller and lightweight then mods may not be right for you. Although there are small vape mods out there, most are designed to be much chunkier than a regular cigarette, which can mean that it’s harder to carry around in your pocket.

3. Pricey

Most of the time, buying new personal care gadgets like electric toothbrushes, hair straighteners, laser hair removal devices and the like means splashing some extra cash. Vape mods are no exception. However, if you’re just looking for something simple to lessen your smoking habits but do not have the extra cash to shell out, then you might not want to make that additional investment.

Choosing Your Box Mod

Ultimately, there’s no one-size-fits-all strategy for choosing the right vape mod or deciding if one is right for you. However, if you do decide to take the modding route, then you will need to think carefully about what you want to adjust when it comes to your habit.

Vape Mod Features To Look For

a man hold a vaporiser in his handThere’s more to choosing the right option than finding the best vape brands in the UK. For instance, some box mods allow you to adjust the amount of power you can access, while others alter temperature control. Let’s look at some of the most common types of mod features below.

1. Power Range

Box mods that adjust your variable wattage allow you to get more power out of your vaporiser. Power settings are one of the easiest things to mod, making them a common choice for beginners.

2. Temperature Control

Temperature control box mods are like power devices in that they allow you to upgrade your wattage and set specific temperatures. Higher wattage leads to “dryer puffs” which is good for your liquid flavours.

3. Pass-Through Charging

Some mods are designed to help you get more practical use out of your vaporiser. For instance, with pass-through charging, you can use your device while the battery is plugged in and charging.

4. Battery Power

Speaking of battery-altering options, you can also adjust the amount of energy your vape can hold, so that it’s possible to use it for longer without recharging.

  1. This is very fascinating, You’re an excessively professional blogger.
I’ve joined your feed and sit up for looking for
more of your great post. Also, I have shared your site in my
    social networks

  2. I have no experience with Smok mod boxes. I have experienced some of their larger tanks – the coils were appalling; most of them leaked, badly. On inspecting the coils it was obvious that the outer sleeve wasn’t big enough, it didn’t seal, you could see a gap of at least one millimetre. Having read other reviews it appears Smok wouldn’t response let alone accept responsibility for selling crap that would never function. Don’t go near them.

    1. Hi Terry. It’s unfortunate you had such an experience with Smok tanks. What mod box/es do you use? We’d love to hear what works for you and why.
